In the hood...

So... guess what came through my neighborhood today? Not something you see every day that's for sure. The Olympic Torch Relay was a block from my house. The boy, Ginger and I walked over to take a gander... I thought we'd see someone run past and then we'd go home. It was so much more than that! There is a large entourage that travels with the torches. Sponsor vehicles that hand out free stuff, Police of course, in cars and on bikes and on foot (one of my nephews is a police officer and is volunteering as a torch guard, he ran with the torch bearer in Nunivut and will again in West Vancouver), helicopters over head, a bus to drop off the next runner and a bus to pick up the one that just finished. As it turned out we were at a hand off point and my son took a terrific picture of the new torch being lit. It was all-in-all a very exciting morning. Now back to my regular knitting content... still working on Mara.

Update... my nephew is a cop in Vancouver, as I've mentioned he volunteered to be a torch guard throughout the torch relay and has spent a lot of time running alongside the torch in Nunivut, Alberta and BC, in Williams Lake BC he got to be the torch bearer! It just doesn't get much cooler than that!
